Tomorrow, we will be in 2023. The SFMM Board and I would like to wish you all the best for this new year.

After a year 2022 rich in scientific events for the SFMM, the year 2023 also looks promising. The results of the traditional photo competition will be announced in mid-January. The first prize will be on the cover of the “Journal of Medical Mycology” for the year of 2023, which, let us remember, now has an Impact Factor of 3.746.

Also in January, we will announce the results of the first call for multicentre projects organized by the SFMM, for which eight very good applications were received.
A new “theme day” will be held on 31 March, focusing on onychomycosis. The meeting will take place in Paris. All the necessary information is available on the SFMM website, including free but compulsory registration. This event is accompanied by a survey of practices via a questionnaire, the results of which may be analyzed in an article in our journal.
In 2023, the SFMM congress, coupled with that of the French Society of Parasitology (SFP), will take place in Marrakech, Morocco, from Wednesday 24 (2:00 pm) to Saturday 27 May (1:00 pm). The afternoon of the 25th of May will be shared between SFP and SFMM and will be dedicated to the One Health topic. The congress will close after a morning session on the theme of parasitosis and mycosis in the Mediterranean basin.

As always, you will be able to find all the information concerning the events with which the SFMM is associated on the website. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that the SFMM’s website has been completely redisigned thanks to the work of Guillaume Desoubeaux, Alicia Moreno-Sabater and Sébastien Bertout, whom we would like to thank warmly. We invite you to connect to it (https://sfmm-mycologie-medicale.com/) and you will be able to register and renew your membership to the Society and the Journal. This year, you will be able to pay your membership fee directly online, without having to go through the arcana of our ancestral paper system.
The year 2023 will also be the first year of the new Centre National de Référence des mycoses et antifongiques (CNRMA), whose management has been given to Fanny Lanternier. The organization has been greatly revised and we intend to establish multiple and fruitful collaborations.

We hope that these multiple projects will satisfy you. It is also important to us to combine this scientific dynamism with the human link that has always been a strong characteristic of our Society.

A very happy new year to all of you!

Françoise Botterel, President of French Society of Medical Mycology and the SFMM board.
