The French Society of Medical Mycology (SFMM) is renewing the “photo competition” set up in 2020. Like last year, the picture selected by the jury will be published on the front cover of the four 2022 issues of the Journal of Medical Mycology. Moreover, the registration fees of its author  will be supported by the SFMM for the next congress of our society (Rouen, June 2022).

All aspects of medical mycology are eligible: clinical photography, macroscopic appearance of fungal colonies, microscopic morphology of a fungus, electron microscopy images or images from experimental research work, etc. The images, 15 x 15 cm, in TIFF format, must have a definition of 300 dpi, i.e. more than 3 MB (1772 x 1772 pixels). They should be accompanied by a short caption (one or two sentences maximum in English, mentioning the magnification in case of microscopic photo), as well as contact details (name, laboratory, department) of the author.

The competition closes on January 20th, 2022, then you can send your images right now to The jury, made up of members of the SFMM board extended to the chief-editors of the Journal of Medical Mycology, will classify the photographs during the second half of January. Images not selected will also be valued and presented in the form of a photo gallery on the SFMM website.

The mycology being particularly photogenic, we hope that many of you will participate in this contest.

The SFMM board, with the contribution of Jean-Philippe Bouchara
