It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the accidental death of our colleague and especially friend Annick Datry, at the age of 66.
Annick, who had recently retired, spent her entire career as a University Lecturer-Practitioner in the Parasitology-Mycology Department at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris. She is particularly passionate about mycology, which she has developed in her laboratory, and has contributed to the dissemination of the French Society of Medical Mycology. She has supervised and encouraged many vocations among the youngest, thanks to her skills, her sharing of knowledge and her thirst for communication. Annick has thus participated in the training, both in France and abroad, of a large number of parasitologists and mycologists, some of whom currently hold the highest positions. She also provided consultations where her qualities as a clinician and her devotion to her patients were highly appreciated. Her sense of community also led her to serve tirelessly the SFMM, on the board, but also the CNU and Anofel for many years. She was part of the small group of organizers of the SFMM end-of-year Parisian congresses and enthusiastically and efficiently handled the social program.
All of French mycology is in mourning. Many of us had a lot of tenderness and friendship for Annick, to have shared with her privileged moments, others sometimes more painful. With Marie-Elisabeth and the entire board, and with Claude Guiguen and Bertrand Dupont who have assured the previous presidencies, we can testify to her unfailing involvement with the SFMM, always ready to give of her time and energy, in a particularly friendly atmosphere.
We will remember her determination, her overflowing generosity, her vivacity, and her passion, and will remain very moved by her warm and engaging personality with whom we shared so much.
Jean-Pierre Gangneux, Marie-Elisabeth Bougnoux and the entire SFMM board,
Claude Guiguen and Bertrand Dupont, previous presidents of the SFMM,
